Exodus 24:12 (NKJV)
12 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them.”
The important thing to understand is that God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses for one simple reason – to teach them. Teach them to who? Teach them to God’s people.

A Very Important Question

And they said to Him, “By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority to do these things?”
There is a lot that happened before the religious leaders asked Jesus this question. Actually they were asking two questions, and if we analyze them properly we find an interesting fact.

8 And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.
9 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.
According to… the pattern… just so you shall make it.
Another title I could give this series is “God’s Prophetic Pattern.” The Word of God never ceases to amaze me. The truths I am about to share will amaze you too. Every word, every detail, and pattern we see in the Word is not without great significance. God instructed Moses to build a sanctuary for Him to dwell among His people. He gave Moses a pattern, a blueprint so to speak, with specific details that were very important to follow.
The New King James Version interprets it as, “According to all that I show you… the pattern… just so you shall make it.”
